LARRY LAPIN 

 

Pianist, composer, arranger and educator, Larry Lapin has been on the music scene for many years. A composer of numerous works for orchestra, band, and chorus, Lapin has published compositions and arrangements with Warner Brothers, Columbia, Lawson Gould, Plymouth, and Hansen Publications. Nationally known as a conductor, clinician, and adjudicator, Lapin has also performed with jazz greats such as Gerry Mulligan, Bobby Shew, Ira Sullivan, and Sarah Vaughn as well as show business personalities such as Rich Little, Phyllis Diller, Cab Calloway and Tony Bennett.

 

Professional and school groups all over the country, most recently by Peter Nero and the Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, are performing Larry’s arrangements and orchestrations.

 

As professor of jazz studies and director of the studio music and jazz vocal program at the University of Miami, his students and student performing groups have garnered 26 awards in 22 years from Downbeat Magazine in DB’s annual student music award competition.

 

Lapin is a member of the American Federation of Musicians, American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP); Music Educators National Conference; International Association of Jazz Educators; American Choral Directors Association; and Florida Vocal Association.


Larry remains active as a pianist, conductor, arranger, and composer for motion pictures, radio and television, nightclubs, theaters, and concerts.
